This photo was taken at 12:17:32 PM on July 21, 2023 at an overlook of Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains near Ontonagon, Michigan. This overlook is a spot I have been to twice now, it provides a perfect view of Lake of the Clouds which, funnily enough, I personally believe is best enjoyed on a cloudless day. The trail runs along the cliffside along the valley where the lake sits, with a large stone-walled overlook (where this photo was taken) and plenty of smaller overlooks along the trail.

This photo and the others in the Ontonagon – Mi category document an annual trip taken to a cabin west of Ontonagon with the same three friends I’ve been close with since my freshman year of high school. This photo was taken on the second year of this tradition. The cabin is owned by one of those friend’s family, some of which grew up in the area. Despite the cabin being located across a highway from the shore, there is still access to lakeshore of Superior through an abandoned property across the highway from the cabin. This makes the shore hardly a five minute walk from the cabin and allows for many trips to the beach and a perfect bonfire location. This trip is a tradition which we hope to continue for as many years as we all can.
